Awards & Accolades:

Child Care Week award Child Care Week award (329 KB)

Philosophy:

Our Program is based on:
  • Interactions and relationships
  • Routines and/or daily living experiences
  • Opportunities and possibilities offered by the physical environment
  • The structure and flow of the day
  • Long periods of time for extended play

We believe: Children are;
  • Individuals within a family, culture and community
  • Participants in a learning environment which needs to be safe, provides opportunities to develop and grow through their interests, which supports and encourages exploration and experimentation
  • Active learners who need opportunities to make choices about which aspects of the learning environment to focus on
  • Are capable and resourceful

Therefore we Aim to provide:

A Learning Environment that is;
  • Planned to encourage learning through interactions with materials, peers and adults
  • Where children are encouraged to express themselves using a variety of mediums some of which are language, music and movement, visual arts, construction, dramatic play, scientific enquiries, literacy and mathematics.
  • Where children are encouraged to develop an awareness of self as an individual and as a member of a group through individual and group experiences and projects
  • Where children are encouraged to develop empathy and concern for others
  • Where independence is encouraged and supported by providing children with genuine choice within the daily program
  • Where children are encouraged to work at their own pace and pursue their interests and ideas individually or in co-operation with others
  • Where the outdoor environment is seen as a learning environment and not just a place for running around
  • Where established learning centres offer small spaces where small groups of children form valued relationships through their interactions with peers and adults.
  • Where clearly defined, well equipped interest areas are arranged to promote independence, foster decision making and encourage engagement and involvement

A Place where Professionals;

  • Create an environment that invites children to observe, be active, make choices and experiment
  • Respectfully represent ability, identities, traditions, priorities, history and vision of the service in order to foster respect for diversity, fairness and social justice
  •  Form positive relationships with families
  • Design and determine what children have access to in order to construct meaning
  • Are offered many opportunities for professional learning and development and are encouraged to engage in a process of lifelong learning.

This philosophy reflects the view that we are a community of learners and learning is influenced by social and cultural contexts. Therefore, different pedagogies are needed to cater for different children in different contexts. Our methods of observation and documentation also reflect this view.

Staffing:

Aero Kids Early Learning Centre ensures high quality care and education for your child by employing qualified, experienced staff. This has enabled the development of high quality individual programs for the children so that they can achieve their optimum developmental and educational levels.

University qualified Early Childhood Teachers oversee implementation of the programs for the Toddler and Preschool rooms and Diploma Educators will run the programs for the Nursery and Pre-Toddler rooms. Our full-time Director Joanne is also an Early Childhood Teacher.

We employ trainees who work fulltime at Aero Kids whilst studying at Tafe, and are consistent, familiar staff members who assist the Educators in providing a consistency of care for the children.

As we do not believe in using agency casual staff, we have our own casual register of familiar staff members who we can roster casually when regular staff are on leave or taking time out to develop the curriculum for the children.

Athena our experienced Cook provides nutritious meals for all children. All of our food is prepared on the premises with fresh ingredients, creating healthy and wholesome meals which meet the Australian standards for healthy eating.
We also cater for cultural and religious diets and have recently created our very own Cookbook which has contributions from our staff and families.

Parents as Partners:

Parents are welcome in the Centre at all times. If you are working close to the Centre, feel free to come in and visit your child during the day. Working close by will make it easy for mums to continue breastfeeding, if they wish to do so.
Parents can be involved in the Centre in many different capacities. Involvement can include anything from discussing your child’s development with his/her primary carer to joining us on excursions or contributing any special talents you may have into the program. The extent of involvement is completely up to you.
